2025 LISTOWEL FOOD FAIR FESTIVAL PROGRAMME
WELCOME MESSAGE
On behalf of our hardworking and dedicated committee I would like to welcome you to the 30th annual Listowel Food Fair. We have an exciting programme of events over the 5 days encompassing all aspects of the food chain from farm to fork and sea to table targeting all age groups with quality and interesting events.
We are both privileged and honoured that the distinguished academic and journalist Luke O Neill will open our festival this year. The festival will be closed by the present Minister for Agriculture Martin Heydon who will deliver the Frank Hayes lecture on Monday evening.
This year is special because we are celebrating our 30th anniversary. Celebrity chef and author Kevin Dundon is the recipient of our coveted Lifetime Achievement Award and follows in the footsteps of previous winners Dennis Brosnan, Francis Brennan, Darina Allen, John O’Connor and Georgina Campbell. Over the past 30 years many of the best known figures in the Irish Hospitality and Agri Food Sectors have presented at the Food Fair. Reference will be made to many of these in a special publication compiled by committee member, Annette McElligott to mark our anniversary.
As this is my last year as Chairperson I would like to acknowledge the work of previous Committees and Chairpersons who gave their time and expertise Pro bono to ensure the survival of the Food Fair. I would like to acknowledge two individuals who played significant roles in the early days of the Food Fair and who have since passed, Shiela Broderick and Joanna Watkins. Our thoughts and prayers will be with them over the weekend.
I would like to acknowledge those businesses in Listowel who have embraced the concept of a food fair from the outset. They had the foresight in recognising its role in the promotion of Listowel as a gourmet destination both locally and nationally.
Finally I would like to thank our many sponsors who are listed on the programme. Without your financial support the Food Fair would simply not have survived for the past 30 years.
